Hello from the Philippines!

As many of you know I will be spending the next 6 months in Tacloban, Leyte. This trip is part of a ‘study abroad’ experience and is a continuation of my education to work and live full time in the Philippines. I am so thankful for this opportunity as I believe the Lord gave it to me, and hope that you will join me in prayer for the things God is doing here!

I am here with the Miller family (www.godinternational.org/clarkandrina) along with new employee Jovic Roldan. We have many ministry opportunities here of which we are very thankful for!

Our team started an after school program, which caters to the kids who struggle the most in the school we are working at. The teachers are doing their best, but with a high student to teacher ratio, children who are struggling get left behind. We track each child’s progress and they get individualized attention during the tutoring sessions! Some of the children are 4-5 years behind in their education, so we have much work ahead of us.

The South East Asia team recently began a community center called ‘Tahanan,’ a Tagalog word for ‘home.’ Every week we host multiple Bible studies and meals and are able to create an encouraging and safe environment for youth in the area. As the school year comes to a close we will also be facilitating tutoring sessions along with other children’s programming to benefit the community around us. You can pray that the Lord gives us discernment in these upcoming activities.

On a more personal note, I had quite the miraculous transition to the Philippines. I didn’t know for sure I would be going on this 6-month immersion until about 3 weeks prior to my departure. The Lord truly provided in ways that I didn’t expect. I thought I would have to postpone the trip because of funds, only to discover that almost all my trip had been paid for. After that I was still in need of someone to cover my ministry responsibilities at G.O.D. Int’l headquarters. My good friend Keith had an unexpected generous monetary donation and was given the opportunity to give almost 100% of his time as a volunteer to G.O.D. ministry efforts. Because of his suddenly open schedule and willingness to give of his time, he was able to cover my ministry responsibilities! It was truly a blessing and I quickly prepared to leave the country for my extended stay.

I didn’t have much time to prepare but the Lord filled me with an incredible amount of confidence and faith for what he would do with me. Over the past 8 years I have been learning the Bible and the Lord has taught me many a lesson that was filtered by this Word. I have been challenged to give of myself in ways I didn’t know possible, and through every challenge God prepared me for moments to come in this trip.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support!
