This week marked the last phase of iPad set-up, where we finalized all app installations and settings! The students have also been adding their class groups on ‘Edmodo’, which is where teachers will post material relevant to class content. (Jr. High and High School students use a site called Canvas, rather than Edmodo.) Feel free to skim through your students’ class groups on their Edmodo app, and familiarize yourself with what the teachers are sharing and posting!
Reminder: Please help your students remember to plug in their iPads to charge, on nights before school! Those fully-charged iPads are so necessary for participation in classes during the day.
This week, for 6-7 year-olds we also began implementing our behavior award system, where students can earn points throughout their school day based on good behavior and academic achievement. Students may earn a point for being Focused in class, Good Participation, or for a Noteworthy Contribution. Students also can be awarded points for having a Clean Cubby, for Caring, and demonstrating good Collaboration with their classmates. Once they earn three points, then on Friday afternoons we have ‘Grab Bag’, where they can either choose a small item to take home, or save their points and put them towards a fun activity, such as having ice cream with a favorite teacher, or having a half hour of iPad game time!
NO SCHOOl ON TUESDAY: Consistent with the Metro Public School calendar, we do not have school on Monday or Tuesday of next week (Sept. 5 and 6). I hope you all have a wonderful Labor Day weekend, and we’ll see you back at school next Friday!
