Seth Davis, Director of Agriculture works with volunteers Josh Mohn and Tori Gygi. Volunteers have the benefit of getting hands-on experience in the garden while being taught from our garden experts Seth Davis and Geoff Hartnell.
We utilize bio-intensive growing techniques which sustainably provide the highest yield of crops on the smallest amount of land. By adopting these methods in East Africa, our cooperatives have successfully tripled their harvest!
Each Friday, Hopewell Gardens participates in the Donelson Farmer’s Market which provides our area with fresh, local produce. This market also offers reduced pricing for lower income families making healthy, local produce more accessible to a much broader demographic.
Geoff Hartnell, our farm manager, and Gerron Norman represent our community garden at the local farmer’s market. Gerron, 15, lives in our neighborhood and volunteers 3-4 times a week in our garden. Since he’s begun volunteering, he has used his new skills to start his family’s own backyard garden.
