Update from El Salvador (October 2016)

A Letter from Lorena and Antonio, our cooperatives in El Salvador

Blessings to all. We want to share with you all that God has done last week.

On Friday (Oct. 7th), Marco and Jason arrived and began helping us plan and set up a soccer clinic for the youth. It was a good time. We know it won’t be easy, but it will be a great opportunity to work with children, helping them to form good attitudes that will guide them to become better people. Amilcar and William are excited about the project, but they certainly have to learn a lot in the process.

After working on the soccer clinic, we got to go to Suchitoto and share a meal. Jason and Marco shared their testimonies. They told us about their own beginnings in ministry, and this was very encouraging in our own beginning efforts to learn God’s Word and do ministry. They told us about how much work it took at the beginning, and how it all started with just a few people. It was a lot of work and sacrifice for them, but now it’s bearing fruit even here in El Salvador.

On Saturday, we continued to plan for the soccer clinic. We worked on setting dates, and we learned a lot about how to use soccer to teach good values. It’s quite the task, but we want to serve in this way. Marco shared the Word from James 5:7-11 and encouraged us to be perseverant and have patience. He also encourage the youth to be participatory in this new experience. The youth were full of joy.

Recently, we also had a meeting with the girls, and we were able to discuss the topic of menstruation. We gave out sanitary pads. The information the team sent us on this topic was very informative. It is of great benefit to the youth here.

It was a great week of blessings. Thank you for all the support.
