Miss Price's Homeroom

“Love God with Everything!”
— Exodus 20:3 & Deuteronomy 6:5

Who is Miss Price?

Hi Parents! My name is Stefanie Price. I am 28 years old. I am a teacher, a student, a daughter, sister, and fiance. I am going into my second year of teaching, full time, in a formal setting. Before teaching full time, I assisted with classes at The Academy and got experience teaching abroad, in Uganda, for two summers. I am also a student at The Institute of Global Outreach Developments International, where I am seeking a dual degree in Biblical Studies and Community Development Work. I was born and raised here in Nashville. I have one older sister. I am engaged to be married to a wonderful man of God, who is from Uganda and trying to make his way here on a fiance visa! I love sports, volunteering, and teaching children!

I am really thankful and excited to teach your children this school year. I have been blessed by all of your children already and the love, laughter, and joy they bring with them to class everyday. They have many gifts that I and the rest of the teachers are excited to help cultivate in them! We are excited to be working with YOU, as well, as the learning doesn't stop in the classroom and at school! Please feel free to email me at any time. I and The Academy staff are here to help answer any questions, concerns, observations, and or success that you have or see with your child. It takes both parent and teacher and family and school to help raise the next generation!

Why does my child's iPad not have any games (or new games) on it?

All iPad's were kept last Friday, to ensure "stock" apps were put on them. School app games will be added to your child's iPad this weekend. This means, they will need to leave their iPads at school on Friday, August 19. Your child may still have school apps on their iPads from last year OR they may have what we call "Home Apps." Please Note: Only school apps that have been added by The Academy. There will be one other FINAL app add, in addition to the one this weekend, Friday, August 19th.

My child is hungry at school. What can I do?

All students are able to receive a school breakfast and or lunch. Breakfast starts at 8:20 and ends at 8:40. There is a "hard close" at 8:40 for breakfast.  That means if they are in line at 8:39 they can receive breakfast, but if they arrive after this, they won't receive it for that day. I have already heard several students complain of being hungry, EVEN IF they have had breakfast and lunch. That being said, I would suggest, if you are able, to pack an extra snack(s) for them to eat during the day during their transition time between classes. Snacks should be limited to finger foods that are easily able to be put up quickly (i.e. NOT something that makes a big mess or requires a spoon).

What are ways I can be helping my child at home?

These first two weeks of school act as a social reintegration period and an informal assessment period. Therefore, there is NO content being taught, but teachers are gauging where each individual is at according to the classes they teach! Below is the law of the week and ways you can explain it to your child and open up dialogue at home about what it means to be God's kid!

  • "Love God with everything." Is the first law of the decalogue or Ten Commandments. It is also found and elaborated on in - Deuteronomy 6:5.
  • Loving God with everything means with what you think or focus your mind on, with the words that you speak to yourself and others, and your everyday actions.
  • God uses his kids to show the world who he is. That means, they represent him WHEREVER they go (and represent their parents and teachers, too). The represent him in what they think about and focus their minds on, how they speak to one another (to their teachers, parents, etc.), and how they interact with others (playing together, in their classroom, at home, at the store, etc.). This is a BIG responsibility but God REALLY believes in them and wants to use them to help the world!

I have further questions to ask my child's teacher. How can I contact her?
