From Classes to Cricket

My first 4 days in India have been incredibly full, and the Lord has been so near. Corey and I arrived safely and have enjoyed good health. Another friend, Rachel (upper right in pic) also arrived a day after us. She will be staying a full year of ministry, so these first 6 weeks of the three of us together are very special. Manohar and Sneha (left side) are our cooperatives here in India- they love the Lord a lot, and are super fun, spunky, and wonderful to work with.

I've been able to teach Bible classes to Manohar and Sneha, which is my all-time favorite thing to do! I am walking with them through a particular approach to studying the Bible, that slows the reader down and offers a series of steps to walk through, before interpretation of a text takes place.

They’re practicing making observations on a passage, asking questions, outline, doing word studies, identifying key words and verses… all before arriving at the place where they can make interpretations about what God is like, a timeless truth about humanity, or a moral imperative that’s communicated in a passage. We’ve had a great time together in our classes!

Today after we enjoyed a restful Sunday morning together, they took us to an open plaza to join thousands of people in watching the 'world cup' of all cricket games- India vs. Pakistan! It was so entertaining to be part of the crowd.

Hello from Toronto!

This morning my dear friend, Corey Foster, and I departed out of Nashville, heading to Delhi for 6 weeks!

During my time in India I'll be managing a couple different projects. My main role is to facilitate a trip for 4 students (Corey's one of them!) from The Institute for G.O.D. Int'l who are on an immersion trip. These students have all had experiences in 3rd world countries, and they're studying the Bible and development work in preparation for full-time ministry. I'm very excited and honored to be leading their trip!

I'll teach regular Bible studies, take them on site visits in Delhi and surrounding cities, and guide them through completing their own service projects. This trip will help students develop a deeper awareness of the overwhelming challenges faced by many in India, and learn more of how God's word offers a particular way to address these issues. It's going to be a wonderful time! Please be praying for us. We can't do anything (that will last) in our own strength.

Stay tuned for more updates!

Oh, and Toronto airport = super nice 😮
