Camp Skillz understands that the experience children have with failure now primes them for future struggles. Craig Duffy explains what they’re doing about it.
For 7 weeks this summer, we hosted Camp Skillz for kids ages 6-16 at two locations in the Nashville area. Our slogan is "Building Skillz, Building Kids" and we worked hard to make sure that happened every single day of camp. Enjoy a few moments we captured that give a glimpse into this wonderful summer camp.
In the same way that peer pressure can lead an impressionable youth down a dangerous road, such pressure can also work in the opposite direction. This is a dynamic we are blessed to be able to watch take place each summer as we facilitate almost two straight months of week-long service opportunities for youth from all around the US, right here in Nashville.
Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not stop them; for it is to such as these that the kingdom of God belongs.” (Luke 18:16) If you’ve ever wondered why so much of our activity is focused on creating an environment where children can play, now you know. The kingdom of God belongs to them. Kingdom work is wrapped up in ensuring that the next generation grows up healthy and happy, safe and playful.
